The Christmas Break – and plans for next year

2020. Wow. Really threw a lot at us, eh? It has been a difficult year for everyone, with layers of emotions being piled high. But for Propagation Place it’s been our busiest year yet! Hurray! We are so immensely pleased with the response to our little charity business, with people buying more vegetable plug plants than ever before. We think this is a direct result of people reconnecting with the land, getting out into their gardens and feeling the benefits, both physically and mentally, of being outside with dirt under their finger nails. There have been numerous studies that show that soil microbes have similar effects on the brain to prozac. The bacterium found in soil stimulates serotonin production, which makes you more relaxed and happier. Isn’t that incredible!? You can read more about that here.

We are of course so happy that our project is thriving, but the fact that people are growing their own, getting out and giving vegetables a go, makes us the happiest. We really hope that this year has given everyone a new passion, a new found joy of nature that carries on past the pandemic.

We have just finished our seed order, so those little packets of potential will be with us soon. Our trays are spotless, our benches are gleaming, and we will soon be sowing our socks off, getting those gorgeous vegetable plug plants ready to send out to you. We have been looking at the varieties we sell, expanding and honing the collections, researching the health benefits of different varieties. It really is about eating the rainbow. We love our Garden in a Box – it gives you a really wonderful range of mixed vegetable plug plants that are ready to be planted out. Why not try them next year? Our Autumn Garden in a Box was so popular this year -its packed full of veg plants that can be harvested through autumn and winter, with winter vegetable plug plants that will be ready to be picked in spring.

We would love to hear your garden stories, failures, successes and lessons learnt. Please do get in touch.

We are a small, community project that relies on your support. Every plug that is sold helps us to keep the project running, providing a place for people to come and learn, garden, and relax. You can read more about our story, and some wonderful testimonials here.

We couldn’t do it with our you. Thanks so very much.
Merry Christmas and a very happy new year form us all here at Propagation Place!
